o SBTN3812 is an iSeries Virtual Printer.

o It transforms all iSeries OS/400 spool files to Adobe Acrobat PDF Files.

o Its integrated emailer emails PDF files out.

o SBTN3812 runs on Windows PC.

o From a user's point of view, SBTN3812 looks like a SCS System Printer (IBM 3812-1 Printer). You can continue to use CRTPRTF, CHGPRTF, OVRPRTF, CHGSPLFA, WRKOUTQ, WRKSPLF etc. on 5250 Green Screen to print reports for automatic transformation to PDF and email.

o SBTN3812, when run, telnets to iSeries OS/400 with a device name. In turn, OS/400 Telnet Server
1. Creates a Virtual Printer Device with specified name
2. Creates an output queue with specified name and
3. Starts a printer writer with specified name.

o When a spooled file with ready (RDY) status is moved to this output queue, printer writer will start sending the spooled file to SBTN3812 for transformation to PDF and emailing. PDFs are saved on local or network disk drive.

o PDF produced by SBTN3812 is text-based, fully navigatable, and high-performance. This means that the output data encoded in EBCDIC is converted to ASCII but remains data, not a bitmap.

o SBTN3812 is very affordable, easy-to-use, fast report publishing and electronic document distribution system.

o Replaces Pre-Printed Paper Form: You can design electronic form overlays using any readily available graphics design software and save the overlay as industry standard JPEG image. Built-in JPEG image processing program merges it with variable line data to produce graphics-rich PDF documents. enabling replacement of pre-printed paper form.

o Email: SBTN3812 has integrated e-mail function for "outbound" PDF electronic distribution.

o PDF File Name: SBTN3812 can generate meaningful PDF file name from the line data. So when all PDF files are displayed, user can quickly determine what it contains.

o Segmentation: SBTN3812 can create multiple PDF files out of a single output file. This "electronic burst and bind" function is integrated into SBTN3812.

o Electronic Distribution: SBTN3812 can email reports as PDF files to an individual or group of individuals.

o Electronic Publication: Reports which are normally printed, burst, and mailed in hardcopy format can be converted to PDF and placed in the Integrated File System (IFS) for Web or client access.
